p123 Book Meme

Beth says that the book meme post today works this way:

Grab the nearest book
Open the book to page 123
Find the 5th sentence
Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog (along with these instructions.) (For the sake of the OCD, I'm clarifying that this means you post the 5th, 6th, and 7th sentences.)
You must pick the closest book - no digging around for something that will make it look like you're fascinating and well-read.
(optional) Tag 5 people.

So here's my contribution, from p123 of "Partners in Space: US-Russian Cooperation After the Cold War" by Susan Eisenhower:
Despite the economic constraints, however, the United States and Russia -- along with their international partners -- put the first elements of the station into orbit. In fact, between the launch of the FGB in November 1998 and the launch of the Expedition Six crew four years later, eleven station modules were added, utilizing sixteen Space Shuttle flights, two Proton rocket launches, six Soyuz flights and ten Progress resupply vehicles. The station had grown to over 15,000 square feet of habitable area and the permanent crews were in the process of performing well over one hundred scientific experiments.

I learned more in those 3 sentences than all of the book that I memed. ;-)
