September: Cry For You

I just added this album to my playlist. Love the dance beat. Would make an interesting song for use in a New Moon video.

I never had to say goodbye

You must have known I wouldn't stay

While you were talking about our life

You killed the beauty of today

Forever and ever

Life is now or never

Forever never comes around

(People love and let go)

Forever and ever

Life is now or never

Forever's gonna slow you down

You'll never see me again

So now who's gonna cry for you

You'll never see me again

No matter what you do

You never heard me break your heart

You didn't wake up when we died

Since I was lonely from the start

I think the end is mine to write

Chorus

Review: "Oh Snap" by Philmont

My favorite song on this album is "The Difference". This is another Christian band with a fantastic heavy pop-rock sound. I really enjoyed it. The sound reminds me somewhat of "Jimmy Eat World".

Review: "Abandon" premier album

I am very impressed with this small album. Some of the best music I've heard recently, whether secular or Christian. I agree with other reviewers that the sound is similar to The Killers, but the words are much better. This will definitely make it to my iPod playlists. Well worth a listen if you like alternative rock.

A capella tribute to John Williams

The amount of talent, creativity, and FREE TIME that some people has is pretty amazing.

EDIT: Then I learned that the guy in the video is just lipsinking. The creation, arrangment, and singing of the music was by someone else. This guy just made the four-pane video presentation.

Movie Review: "Mama Mia!"

CNN hosts a review of "Mama Mia" by Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman, which totally pans the movie.

I loved the movie. Maybe Entertainment Weekly should have sent a Woman to review it? It's a chick flick. What could a man possibly say good about it? He'd look weak. Heaven knows it would literally kill a man to like a chick flick.

Want to know how much I liked it? I cried. Twice. (Well, if you knew I HATE movies that make me cry, you'd scratch your head at this, but for this movie crying was good.)

Does it have corny moments? Sure. Does some of the singing warble? Sure. (Yeah, poor Pierce Brosnan...he does very well for having to reach so far out of his voice range.) Here and there the acting was off (with Meryl Streep being the most inconsistent...everyone else did a GREAT job).

If you liked the stage production, you'll probably like the movie. I LOVED the stage production. Yes, the singing on stage was probably better, and the stage scenery was amazingly creative; but the film has beautiful reality of Greek island scenery going for it, a lot more people in it, and camera angles that you just can't get on stage. At least one family in our family will be buying the DVD. It was well worth the $8 matinee ticket and the $12.75 hotdog and soda.

I highly recommend it.

Musical Flashback

Don't know exactly how this came to mind today, but perhaps triggered by a post from The Llama Butchers. I loved this song "I Don't Want To Fall In Love" by Jane Child when it was on the radio back in the college days of the early 1990s.

I also liked her hair and her jewelry.

You can see more of her hair in this video:

When a friend of mine saw the album cover, with Jane's nose ring connected to her ear, my friend asked "How does she turn her head?" This was the source of many belly laughs for years.

What were you listening to in the early 1990s?

In My Arms by Plumb

I heard this wonderful song on satelite radio:

So the next time we were in Best Buy, we looked up the lyrics on Mike's Motorola Q and then looked for the album. Here's the song as it originally appeared on the album:

Thankfully, there are several remixes available on Amazon.

Fantasy Band

As seen on Beth's blog.

So, presenting the album "Must Not Go Out" by the band Stanbridge. I agree... if the sky looks like that, do NOT go outside. I'm guessing that this band is a vampire goth themed band.

Mike and I went to Walmart together. Dangerous. We picked up 8 DVDs from the bargain bin ... 2 for $11. But we also picked up two new music CDs based on the songs we had heard on the radio. Mike ended up liking both the CDs, and more power to him because I disliked them. I'm very disappointed. Perhaps they'll grow on me, but I doubt it.

First was Nickleback's new disc "All the Right Reasons". I like the sound of the album, but the lyrics are disgusting. The only song I like was "Photograph".

The second disk was Bon Jovi's Have a Nice Day. I like the "Have a Nice Day" song, but somewhere along the disk I asked myself, "didnt we already hear this song?" ... tracks started sounding the same, and they were not overly engaging.
