Small cars and insurace

I thought this article on CNN about small cars and insurance rates was interesting. We pay less insurance (about half as much!) for two big cars than the quotes in the article for one car. Our car insurance is about $900 a year total for two big cars while the article talks about $1700 a year for one Mini Cooper. Wow!

I had been thinking that when Mike's car dies he would drive the minivan and we would get me a tiny commuter car...but maybe not!

So perhaps a money-saving tip for people is to use the same insurance company for your house and your car so that you get discounts.
