Black Cats and Halloween.

Growing up in New Mexico, we kept all our pets indoors near Halloween. And definitely tried to keep 'Midnight', our black cat, inside. New Mexico is rife with satanic rituals, and it is well known that cat torture and sacrifice occurs in October.

KOAT, the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque ran a story today about what actions the animal control pet adoption folks are doing this year: you can adopt a black cat, but can't take it home until after Halloween. Very prudent.

The kicker comes at the end of the article where a spokesman says the following. I truly hope he is trying to be humorous, but you can't tell in print! Here's what he says, while holding up a cute little black kitten:

"This little guy is quite friendly, very active and dying for somebody to give him a good home,"

Dying for someone to give him a good home?
